Freedom flotilla

As a single boat from the infamous "Freedom Flotilla" to Gaza is intercepted without incident by the Israeli navy (which notes the presence of not one gram of humanitarian aid on board the ship, naturally) and the entire pathetic effort limps into history, The Propagandist's Editor Jonathon Narvey talks with Jonathan Danilowitz about the Israeli Apartheid lie.

After the debacle of the so-called “Freedom Flotilla”, and the sheer comedy of the “Flytilla”, it seems like an entirely fair question to ask:

What’s more important to the Flotilla activists and their Palestinian allies? Helping Palestinians? Or grandstanding against Israel?

The Canada Boat to Gaza and various left-wing Palestinian groups have tipped their hand recently, as they sent – and published on Rabble.ca – a letter to the Greek government stating a clear preference for solidarity over “charity”.

“We are so sorry not to accept your charity. The organizers and participants of the Freedom Flotilla recognize that our plight is not about humanitarian aid; it is about our human rights. They carry with them something more important than aid; they carry hope, love, solidarity and respect. Your offer to collude with our oppressors to deliver aid to us is totally REJECTED.”

Those following the Freedom Flotilla debacle would be shocked to learn that the Greek government is colluding with Hamas. They are the true oppressors of Gaza. Even if these groups refuse to admit it, they know this.

Hamas is also  the worst abusers of human rights not only in Gaza but in Israel as well....More >>

Someone really needs to tell Amnesty International about the absolutely atrocious treatment of Gaza "Flytilla" activists by the Israeli government:

A lawyer who met some of the British activists on Saturday, Anan Odeh, complained that the conditions in which they were held was “shocking".

“They were put into trucks that they normally use to transfer prisoners,” he said in an interview posted online. “These metal trucks with metal chairs are very small. At least 12 people were put in one of these trucks and left there for a long time without food, drinks or air conditioning.

“After several hours they asked for food and drinks, but they got nothing. This to me is shocking to hear, as there are several men of age that were detained.”

How awful. Meanwhile, in Iran:

For example, a teenager using the name “Ardeshir” described his detention in an unofficial detention center where he was repeatedly raped and watched others being taken from cells to be raped.3 A young woman using the name “Sara” reported being repeatedly raped by her interrogator after refusing to disclose the whereabouts of her brother. She reported that her interrogator raped her “from top to bottom” and

Thanks, United Nations investigative committee. We already knew that.

I'm sure this means that the Freedom Flotilla folks will realize the folly of their mission and apologize profusely to the Israeli government for their profound misreading of events.

Speaking in objection to the Greek government’s move to block the so-called “Freedom Flotilla” from sailing to Gaza, Ebab Lotayef recently told the Sun News Network that they had solicited, and received, a legal opinion about whether or not it was permissible for Greece to prevent the flotilla from sailing.

That legal opinion declared there was “no basis” for Greece preventing the flotilla from sailing.

The source of that legal opinion? None other than Richard Falk.

Falk has reportedly declared that "Greece has no right to detain foreign-flagged ships in its ports other than for purposes of assuring seaworthiness via timely inspection. And they cannot interfere with 'innocent passage' through their territorial waters, and this passage is definitely innocent."

Before one even considers the intentions of the Flotilla activists, one should consider the base errors in Falk’s “opinion”. The Tahrir didn’t merely pass through Greek waters, it docked at port Agios Nicolaos in Crete, making it subject to Greek authority.

Beyond that, the passage through Greek waters was not “innocent”. The goal of the flotilla activists has never actually been to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza – the comically-named Audacity of Hope wasn’t carrying any humanitarian aid at all, only...More >>

I know this may seem like an impertinent question to ask. But given that:

  • Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005
  • The only IDF soldier there for most of that time was the Hamas captive Gilad Shalit
  • Gaza is in no real sense "occupied territory"
  • A lot of this stuff seems to end up sold by Hamas or on the black market (or both) and the terrorist organization presumably funnels the money into arms sales...
  • Gaza shares a border with Egypt, which now keeps it at least partially open
  • There is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza
  • The UN says Palestinians have a higher level of development than Egyptians, or for that matter, South Africans or Pakistanis.

Why is this still happening?More >>
