Jim Wald

Contributing Writer and Representative on Mission
Citizen Wald is a cultural historian at Hampshire College in the People’s Republic of Amherst, Massachusetts. He’s also an enthusiastic historic preservationist, a connoisseur of porcelain, Pilsner, and Pyrenean Mountain Dogs.
Equally at home in the print and digital worlds, he spends most of his time at the computer but surrounded by old books, beneath portraits of Robespierre and Schiller, dreaming of ancient empires and writing about the past and the present.
Because there is no latter-day Committee of Public Safety for him to lead, he had to join The Party of Moderate and Peaceful Progress Within the Limits of the Law. Accordingly, he divides the rest of his free time between serving patiently in local government and cultivating his garden, in both cases, trying to do a little bit of good and prevent a greater evil.
He blogs at To Find the Principles
