
I don’t think that anyone, anywhere, needs a Bushmaster rifle. And I certainly don’t think that absolutely anybody should be able to get their hands on one: including myself.
Understand that I have to preface that last particular statement with a confession of sorts: I suffer from a mental illness. During the past year I was diagnosed with a mixed depression. As I’ve advanced through the stages of treatment the prospect of a drug-resistant mixed depression is one that looms on the horizon. But enough about me. While I feel that I should be forthcoming about this particular detail, this isn’t about me.
To me, it’s still about the 26 murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary, and about their families. This past week it was impossible to look away while the parents of the slain children testified at a gun safety hearing at the state capitol in Hartford, Connecticut.
