Iran Can Totally, Definitely, Positively Weather International Sanctions
Oops. Between the time we wrote that headline and started writing this sentence, Iran's currency just dropped another five percent.
We've never been all that optimistic that economic sanctions could deter a regime that only typically the misery of its own population to dig in its hooks even further. Certainly, there seems to be no slowing down of Iran's nuclear ambitions. But there is always that possibility.
Imposition of sanctions are only one part of the solution. As Iran's population is herded off an economic cliff, will they begin again to question the value of going along with their megalomaniac leadership? If they don't want to be eating grass by this time next year, now would be a good time to do what they have to do...
