The American Witch Hunt Against Julian Assange
It doesn't exist. "Witch hunt" implies first of all that American law enforcement agencies are on an all-out campaign of harrassment, intimidation and actual arrests of WikiLeaks employees. Not happening. Certainly, Julian Assange has no American warrant for his arrest, though he is wanted in Sweden for alleged sex crimes.
Witch hunt also implies an irrational, unnaturally obsessive focus. If anything, the USA ought to be far more concerned with ensuring WikiLeaks doesn't reveal more state secrets that could hamper effective diplomacy and put both soldiers and American allies at risk. Such an approach would be completely rational.
While Julian Assange polishes his credentials as a demagogue on a balcony of the Ecuadorean embassy in London, the rest of us ought to be very clear about what he represents: an arrogant prick who thinks he can somehow evade justice for rather lurid offenses by picking a fight with the USA.
