FBI Data Shows No Epidemic of Islamophobia in USA

Once again, FBI data shows clearly that the much-discussed epidemic of Islamophobia in the USA does not exist.

To put it bluntly, Islamophobia is a myth.

If any religious group can claim it is under threat, it would be Jews. Hate crime incidents against Jews in 2010 topped out at 887. That's far more than incidents against all of the other identified religious groups combined. By contrast, there were just 160 hate crime incidents labeled anti-Islamic.

Indeed, given the constant drum-beat of terror plots and incitement from jihadists against Americans, it is astonishing just how little reaction there has been from ordinary Americans.

The data actually seems to show that the USA is a model of integration, considering America's huge population and vast territory. This is a stark contrast to the endemic intolerance of the Islamic world, which has never stopped openly persecuting its own minorities (Just try being a Christian or Zoroastrian in Iran). And the reason you would see very few anti-Jewish hate crimes in places like Egypt, Syria and Iraq, in comparison with the USA, is that these Muslim countries have already massacred and thrown out all of the indigenous Jews who lived in those territories since long before Islam was founded. You can't commit crimes against the ghosts of those you already robbed, tortured, raped and murdered.

Certainly, any attacks motivated by hatred are too many. But no one considering these statistics objectively could suggest that hatred -- and Islamophobia in particular (whatever that is) is a particular problem for America.
