The Rape of Oslo

There have been 48 rape attacks in Oslo this year alone -- double the figure for all of 2010. It has taken this much for politicians in Norway's capital to even consider increasing police resources -- in the long term.

Let's put aside for a moment the atrocious fact that every single rape in the city of Oslo in the past five years appears to have been committed by "Non-Western men" (One would think in the interest of public safety police and news organizations could be a little more specific about precisely where these suspects came from. China? Probably not. Japan? Doubtful. Hmmm. What "Non-Western men" could they possibly mean?). Some serious questions need answering.

if 48 men had been brutally raped on the streets of Oslo this year alone, would these same politicians only be considering this rather muted response of hiring a few extra cops? Or might we see some bolder movement to restore order to Norway's once placid streets?

Is the current level of sexual violence deemed not worthy of response because the victims are women?

Have the politicians and police bought into the mentality of those who carry out these crimes, that these women out on the street late at night must have been asking for it -- and are therefore not worthy of protection?

What precisely will it take for Norway's elites to begin to protect citizens who are no longer safe to walk the streets at night?

And since this issue is clearly not confined to the streets of Oslo, are other European cities seeing similiar crime patterns also willing to accept this new status quo?
