If this targeted assassination were to have been carried out by Israel, the emergency session of the UN Security Council, called to roast Israel, would have been in session already, The subsequent resolution would be on the front page of the NYT and The Guardian, in bold letters.

How do we know this? Remember what happened when Israel killed terror patriarch and Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmad Yassin back in 2004?

The Secretary-General strongly condemns Israel’s assassination of Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, which resulted in the deaths of eight others.  He is concerned that such an action would lead to further bloodshed and death and acts of revenge and retaliation.  He reiterates that extrajudicial killings are against international law and calls on the Government of Israel to immediately end this practice.  The only way to halt an escalation in the violence is for the parties to work towards a viable negotiating process aimed at a just, lasting and comprehensive settlement.

When America kills an arch-terrorist, it's at the very least a significant victory in the struggle against evil. When Israel does the same thing, it's a violation of international law that perpetuates the cycle of violence.
