Pro-Palestinian Activist Killed By Palestinians. Blame Israel
Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni was held captive by a radical Islamist terror organization. That much we know, because the terrorists kidnapped him and used him as a bargaining chip in their efforts to free their own terrorist leader, apparently held by Hamas, in Gaza. They had issued formal threats, with deadlines, to execute Arrigoni if their demands were not met.
We also know for sure that the Italian activist was strangled to death. His body was recovered on Friday.
Lo and behold, everyone in terrorist-ridden Gaza is now lamenting his death. Everyone denies any knowledge of his capture, everyone is shedding crocodile tears. Arrigoni was very pro-Palestinian, very anti-Israel. But Hamas has the chutzpah to claim that Israel - no less - is behind the murder. Get this right: He was working in Gaza, and although he was very pro-Palestinian, he was captured by Islamic terrorists, used a bargaining chip for the release of another Islamic terrorist held by Hamas - yet Israel is to blame.
So what else is new?
I'm waiting patiently for foreign peace activists to join their struggling brethren in Libya, Bahrain, Syria, even Egypt, in the fight for democracy, equality, women's rights and more. I'm waiting for them to stand up be counted, the way they do in democratic Israel (where they perceive that the Arabs are mistreated), or the way they do in Gaza and the West Bank, where they perceive that the Arabs are deprived of their rights. They come to Israel as righteous Americans, Canadians, Europeans, to fight against the "Zionist entity". Horrific killings are reported from the Arab world daily, worse than anything that has ever occurred in Israel, yet we don't hear of the activists going there to fight the good fight.
Of course not! Israel is a democracy. Terrorists and their foreign apologists know that in Israel there is law and order, a fair justice system, a moral and ethical army. Why risk being thrown into a Syrian jail to rot, when you can wave your flag, show how democratic and "liberal" you are, stand up for human rights, all in safe Israel? Why risk Sudan, Zimbabwe, North Korea, Tunisia, Syria and Libya?
The hypocrisy is mind boggling.
