Murder Kicks Off Israeli-Palestinian Peace Talks
Four civilians, including a pregnant woman, killed in the West Bank as a new round of US-sponsored Mideast peace talks is set to begin. The poor victims never had a chance. Yet another example of "heroism" from the "Palestinian resistance". It makes me want to throw up.
The murder is bad enough. But it's the picture of hundreds of Palestinians dancing in the streets, celebrating the villainous murder of innocent civilians (see the article with photograph in the link) that turns one’s stomach.
Perhaps you recall the similar scenes of joyous pandemonium across Palestinian territories after infamous 9/11 Twin Towers attack in New York. It is beyond-awful to think that humans can celebrate the slaughter of others.
Nonetheless, the Israel-Palestine peace talks are still set begin. An American friend asked me yesterday if I thought there was any chance; he was puzzled at my negative response.
"We are dealing with people who will never accept Israel's right to exist", I said. "It doesn't matter what we do, what we say, how we act - or what we don't do or say or if we behave 'badly'. The world community (encouraged by the hypocritical UN) continues to denigrate and delegitimize Israel. Petro-dollars talk loudly, and it’s the Gulf Arab states that inspire these kinds of atrocities with relentless propaganda; they have the oil-soaked whip-hand."
There is broad Palestinian opposition to reviving peace talks with Israel, with Hamas opposing any contact at all with “the Zionist entity”. The charters of both Hamas and the supposedly more moderate Palestinian Liberation Organization have never been altered and still call for the destruction of Israel, stating that it has no right to exist. It is worth remembering that the PLO was established in 1963, long before there were any so-called settlements, which are today criticized as being the root of the problem.
Israelis can stand on their heads. Until the world community stops licking pandering to the intransigent Arab world and realizes that Israel needs to be supported and given confidence that making concessions will not invite even more violence, there will be no peace.
